Miss Venezuela / Republik

Feature story about the 2018 Miss Venezuela pageant and its social impact on a communist country that has historically battled with class discrimination.

Venezuela is known for a few things: its collapsing economy, its murder rates and its beauty queens. Behind the slogan “Miss Venezuela IS Venezuela”, a social debate opened between the wealthy, the poor, and their visions of what Venezuela is, how it looks like and what it represents.

Commissioned by Republik, a Swiss digital magazine.
